Above are two of his iconic works. He can count Angelina Jolie as one of his celebrities fans. This artist is in his late thirties and apart from his work name, Banksy, nobody knows who he is. But his work is everywhere in the world. They are controversial, political and fun to look at and reflect upon. He is one of our contemporary great artists, he is compared to Warhol, because he has changed the way we look and interpret art today.
Few months ago I went to one of his few exhibitions (he doesn't like publicity) in Britain. And today I want to share some of the photos with you.
Enjoy them and please let me know what you think about this kind of art work.
Hey I am Agy from Unravel Minds. I came across your blog from SITS.
I really love this artist, I have always loved stuff that is ironic and skeptical in some ways, because it always shows the truth of the world and let us stop for a while and think a little about our life that are usually so filled with daily routine that we do not see what's in front of us.
You know, I'd heard of Banksy but never really looked at his work. So I did...about three minutes ago. It's interesting. Some of it I like, some of it not so much. To me it is satire in various forms, very contemporary.
I like most of his stuff and have since I heard of him a few years ago. Thanks you for sharing these. I do enjoy art that really makes the viewer think and I think his work does just that. I used to be a curator for a faith based gallery and wrote a post in defense of a very controversial piece (http://jacksonsstation.blogspot.com/2010/03/for-children.html) so I may not be the best for feedback, lol!
Thanks for visiting and following my blogs! Hope you find The Leaky Boob helpful and I look forward to following your journey.

ReplyDeleteYou could never call him boring or predictable...the first painting (the one with the cutout) is pretty amazing. What an interesting mind.
ReplyDeleteBanksy is a new artist to me. I googled him to look at more of his work. Dare to be different is what I say. I like it.
