The HOUSE is Ours

Yes, the HOUSE I mentioned here, is ours. We are the proud owners of a house. This is our first house. Aesthetically it's nothing compared to the flat we stayed in before, however there are some features that made us want to rent it.

SPACE
In London, we were living in a flat therefore moving to Canada one of our wishes was to be able to live in a house. We want space, because I have too many shoes, clothes, magazines and books. AMI wanted us to be able to hide some of those items and having a house is best for that. Plus, we want to be able to have rooms available for when our families come to visit. Also, we want our future children to have their own room. Our London flat is just one bedroom, now we have three bedrooms.
GARDEN
We really wanted a garden, because AMI would like to grow his own veggies. Plus, we would like our future children to be able to run wild and free, instead of being forced to watch four walls and television all the time. We remember climbing trees when we were little and we would L.O.V.E to see our children enjoy the freedom only nature can bring to your life. Apart from the features above, we have a big garage, a basement and front garden. We have so much space... we will make sure to fill it up with many children - just kidding, LOL! Two will do :)!
The house is rented but we would love to stay here a little bit longer, maybe long enough to welcome our future first baby here :)! If we like living life in the province of Saskatchewan we will definitely but a house will similar features here.

Is your place a flat or a house? Which benefits does the place have? Do you rent your place? How long did wait before buying your first house?

P.S: we are still waiting for our internet connection, so I am blogging from a bar, LOL!

  1. Congrats honey- that house looks fabulous! I'm uber jealous over the garden!

We moved to the opposite coast (east to west) 1 month after getting married. We were going to rent, but the market was down and the cost to rent was the same as a mortgage payment ( = perfect situation to buy). So we bought our first place together. It's a small condo in a small building 2 blocks to the beach. I'd love a house, however in Santa Monica we were totally priced out of that. However, the fact we are so close to the ocean totally makes up for that.

  2. Yay you!!! it's a great house! Not at all cookie cutter, like most houses. It has some unique features that will be fun to decorate and honestly- that yard is to die for!

  3. I bet that will feel like a mansion compared to your apartment!! We just moved into a teeeny house in downtown Denver so we could be close to Drews work. I love having a fenced in back yard- biggest plus, but its actually smaller than the condo we were just renting- but this was a Huge 1300 square feet place.

  4. Yay!! Congrats on getting the house. We are currently renting a duplex. It's certainly a lot smaller than what we're used to but the rent is much cheaper. We are currently in the process of trying to buy house. We just put a bid in on our second dream home.

So, we are keeping our fingers crossed that all will work out.

  5. OMG congrats!!! The house is lovely and those trees in your backyard are gorgeous. They look so strong and mature. Perfect for future treehouses for your little ones to spend countless summer evenings playing in. I can just see it know!

  6. Woohoo! So glad to hear from you. Congrats on your first house. I feel your excitement. We own a house right now. We will be moving to a different state in a few short months (where we will be renting our house and looking to a rent a house too). This is our first house and we'll certainly miss it.

  7. Congrats on finding a place that you have room to grow in. We rent a 1 bedroom flat in Brooklyn, we are really close to Prospect Park, Botanical Gardens and the Children's Museum. It will be tight but we will likely have one child here. It's a huge flat and can be converted to a 2 bedroom. Happy Decorating and moving in lady!

  8. Congratulations! Maybe down the road you can purchase the house? We are renting our current place from a family member with the intent to buy. Gadget Guy and I bought our condo but at the wrong time. I wish we had waited.
