Week 1

Good Monday everyone!

Hope, the first week of 2013 went by okay. It was a busy one for AOI and I. We returned back to our daily routine, going to playgroup and I re-writing the novel between naps and hubby preparing his first lectures for the term ahead.

Well, on 30th Dec. we got together with some friends for a potluck. After lunch we went outside to play in the snow with the kids. It was so much fun. I love playing like a kid again.funtime

On New Year’s Eve, we went to Table Mountain ski resort. Against all better judgement I snowboarded. snowboardingThis sport has been on my Canadian wishlist since 2010. It was one of the reasons I wanted to move to this overly cold province of Canada. So, I am happy I got to try it in my early thirties.

It was hard balancing and turning on the slopes. I fell many times but I laughed and got up again and retried. By the end of the day I was still a lost case, but with even more determination to go back on the board. This week I practiced my balance and focus on my Wii board in my basement; it’s nothing compared being on the real slopes but it’s a good training.

Do you remember the short letter I wrote last week, in which I was thanking hubby for his time with us during the weekend? Well, this weekend hubby had to work because he has some papers to mark. We only spent the evenings together and we had proper conversations. We also banned laptops in bed, lol.

Saturday, while he was at work, AOI and I took down the Christmas tree. Sunday we went to the zoo with AOI’s friend and her mother. We enjoyed walking and jogging to prevent ourselves from freezing. We took some pictures. I love this one of the lion. Isn’t he cute?!zoolion

My friends said she loves snakes and all that reptile kind of animals. On the other hand I like big wild animals, because they are not creepy and I know where to stand if I see one.

AOI and C like each other’s company so it is fun to get together. Top more fun play date!

How was your first week of the year?

xoxo, T.

Please share with me or just write a note so I’m aware you are here and I can stop by to say hello.

Have a great week!

p.s: i am linking up with Lindsay

  4. Snowboarding, something I've always wanted to try! I'm Canadian and I agree - the only good thing about our freezing cold weather is the winter sports!

  5. That sounds like a lovely start to the new year! Good on you for trying out snowboarding - I'm a (bad) skier, snowboarding just plain scares me! Have a great week :)

  7. Happy New Year! You are sue taking the year by the horns...snowboarding?! You are brave! The snow is so pretty. I wish I didn't hate the cold so I could enjoy some powdery white stuff too!

  8. That looks like a blast. And since we don't get much snow here (none), I will experiment on sand dunes!

  10. Wow. I have never seen snow like that in my life! Looks really fun. This also reminds me that I haven't been to the Zoo in way too long. We have one of the best zoos in the US but it's in our back yard so I forget about it.

  11. Ooooh I like the idea of doing weekly reports. Looks like such a fun week was had by all. I tried snowboarding and I was a total failure. I think skiing or any cold related sport activity is just not for me (clearly my African blood can't handle it :)).

  12. That snow looks like it's so much fun! I would love to play like a kid in it again. My first week was pretty good. I managed to get things done online and off, and I'm still standing to tell the tale.

  15. I'm so jealous of your snow situation! I'm hoping we get some soon. I used to love sledding as a kid and my husband's never been skiing and I'd love to take him. On another note, I completely agree about banning laptops in bed ;-)
