The Best Deals for a Budget Summer

A Guest Post by Kira Browdy

The school summer holidays are a contender for the most expensive time of year for parents (perhaps only coming second to Christmas!). With six weeks to fill for one, two, three or more bored and excitable kids, you can soon find your funds depleted (and your enthusiasm worn thin).

Spend some time before they break up hunting down the best budget-boosting deals, offers and promotions however and summer can still be special – even on a shoestring!

Grown-ups go free

These vouchers are currently found on packs of Kellogg’s cereals and allow grown ups to go free with paying children to some of the UK’s best attractions, including Thorpe Park, Legoland, Alton Towers and The Blackpool Tower attractions.

Cushelle/Butlins

Cushelle and Butlins have teamed up to make that summer break more affordable – giving £20 off Butlins breaks. You can also enter the competition online to win one of three UK breaks to Butlins Bognor Regis.

241 Roald Dahl Museum

Have a scrumptious time for less at the Roald Dahl museum and story centre in Buckinghamshire – you can print 241 vouchers online. Be sure to try the Bruce Bogtrotter cake!

Kids go free at Magna

For those of you based further North, the Magna Science Adventure Centre is great for inquisitive minds. Check the money super market website for a printable kids go free voucher.

Groupon

It’s well worth keeping an eye on groupon and other daily deal websites, to pick up fantastic bargains on fun things to do or cheap eats in your area. Deals on gadgets and toys can also come in useful for those inevitable wet weather days.

30% off theme park entry

Both Lightwater Valley and Pleasure Island are offering 30% off admission until November 2013, so print your vouchers online to make a great saving – one that will really add up when you tot up the cost of a family theme park visit.

There are so many amazing deals on the internet, as well as on daily deals sites, that there really is no need to have a ‘full price’ summer. Keep your eyes open at the supermarket too, and start saving those coupons and vouchers for a brilliant budget summer holiday with the kids.
