DIY Maternity Photo-shoot

I’m thinking about maternity photos, again.
When I was pregnant with AOI I thought about hiring a professional photographer to capture my beautiful growing belly. However, hubby was not on the same page as me, so he resolved to take the pictures himself. He took all the outdoor pictures {obviously, without following my guidelines} and I took the indoor pictures.
I had pinned what I wanted to try to achieve. that inspired me to capture this self portrait mathernityshoot
following are some pictures of the end result of my DIY maternity photo bookDolce Attesa Photo Book

Question: Did you do maternity photos? Would you? If yes, was it professional or did/would you DIY?

  1. Lovely pictures.

I did do a session at JC Penneys' portrait studio. We loved it and are glad we got to do them.

  2. In the future I intend to do them. It doesn't have to be professionally documented just as long as I do it. I think it's a wonderful keepsake and I think any child feels special when they can see the pictures and know they were in their money's belly at the time the picture was taken.

  3. great pictures! we hired someone when I was pregnant with Elyse, and I think we'll hire someone again to take some our last pictures as a family of 3--I just love having the documentation and to remind myself that I truly was beautiful during that time--even if I didn't feel like it!

    1. I love documenting how baby grows in the belly. I know my children will love to see those pictures when they are little children but maybe not in their teens :)

  4. I did professional pictures when I was pregnant and I'd do it again. Pictures are important to me. I love how your pictures turned out and into a beautiful book.

    What does dolce attesa mean?

  5. I never did the maternity pictures. In fact I don't think there is a photo out there that exists of me and Dominic's father at all. His friend took one with his cell phone after my son was born, but I'm sure it was deleted, and I never wanted to see it (he had left me the day before). Anyway, perhaps if I marry and have another child I'll want to do them.

Your pictures turned out wonderful, and I'm glad you have those memories.

  7. I so love maternity photoshoot. I love being pregnant and I think it is so important to memorialize that time in our lives. We've used a professional photographer for all of our maternity pics and I will totally do that with all my pregnancies.

I love your maternity book and the colors. I thought I was the only crazy one that took a million pics of my pregnant belly :).
