Positano

Positano

On June 22nd 2013 we took the bus from Sorrento train station and went on the day trip to Positano. We stopped at the top of Positano, from there we deceased to the coast and piazza. We had lunch in the piazza, too some pictures and then headed back home to our apartment in Sorrento. The place is another wonderful place to visit in one’s life time. Vibrant colours and life everywhere.

Pompei

pompei 1

I studied the history of Pompei when I was still in school in Italy. But I never had the chance to visit this ghost city until 21st June 2013. First thing I noticed when we got off the train was the beautiful citrus smell of the many lemon trees spreading over the hills. Then rising above everything the remaining walls of Pompei city.

I still wonder how a whole city can be wiped out over a night. While I was walking among the ruins I imagined the people who lived behind those walls. Did some people got of town and then on the way back home saw the city in flame and returned to save places. Did the secrets of some inhabitant we buried with them under the ashes? So many questions for me to answer one day if I want through my own personal research. But until then I have some pictures to remind me of the splendour the place was for sure.

Hello Everyone

Misty Lake copy

Time really flies. I’ve haven’t been blogging for about days and it feels like forever. I miss my space on the blogsphere but I’m loving the absence of no blogging. My mind needs a break from blogging. Also lately I was getting too boring on the blog. Having visitors make my already hectic life even more hectic.

But right now, for those who are not following me on Instagram, my family is doing a road trip with my in laws around Rockies of Canada. We are enjoying our time and the kids are doing great. The landscape is a superb and observing AOI enjoying nature is a bliss.

Until we return home and I find a new routine to our everyday life I want to share with you some photos from last year summer holidays in Europe.

In the meantime I’m updating our trip daily on my IG account. Stay tuned.

Our Everyday Life: Outdoorsy

my boyMe and my boy by the Mud Creek in Waskesiu

Week 23 of 2014 we spent lots of time doing outdoor activities.
Monday I slept well, good enough to wake up at 5:30 when the alarm went off. For the first time in ages I set my alarm to be able to work on personal stuff before toddler woke up at 6:03. We went to the children festival in town late morning and in the evening we went to the lake

Tuesday we went to the children festival and AOI wanted to sit in the library tent to listen to stories. It was difficult for her to leave her spot.

Wednesday I slept well until 6:00am, normally toddler waking hour. I would been our ordinary life but sweet toddler girl is still sleeping at 7:45am, baby boy spent time with grandparents and I caught up with emails, editing and sorting out some documents.
Today was a nice day. I dance to sunshine pick me up playlist on songza. Grandparents went to the first nation museum and I organised my cutlery cupboard and then, supervised by me, AOI prepared ice lollies. Once grandparents got back We went for lunch in our favourite local deli. on our way back home it started to rain, we were walking so we got soaked by the rain. TOI was the only dry person. He was smiling once I took him out from the cover i had put on him.
We bought an ice cream for AOI. Once she finished her ice cream and i gave three options, read books downstair, or her room and go for a nap. She said no to all of them but I could tell she was going to be handful so I took her and TOI in my room to read to her. She brought a good selection of books, I read and fed TOI until he fell asleep. I was so tired I stopped reading after the third book and  tried to cuddle AOI to sleep but I fell asleep instead of her. I had about 40 minutes nap and my toddler nothing. TOI had two hours, he is teething so he was very fragile and needs mum’s cuddles more than ever. Though AOI didn’t nap, she was happy the whole afternoon, she had her occasional screams just for fun.  Until after dinner baby was happy. Daddy had to rock him with Green Day tune playing. Apparently little boy likes punk rock as his lullaby. He fell asleep at seven and  had another feed at 8:30pm and slept for the evening. Toddler didn’t want to sleep, by 9:25 I went to cuddle her she fell asleep five minutes later.

Some days were awkward. Thursday weather started nice, I went to the gym 6:25am my very first time early gym adventure. TOI had his 4th month vaccine, he was great and didn’t cry much. The weather started to be awkward from 10:30am sometimes cold, sometimes sunny, sometimes cloudy and rainy, a day for jackets. AOI didn’t have a nap and by 7pm she was in delirium stage. But still she didn't sleep until 8:00 because she wanted to watch a film The Fox and the Child, a nice film, I must note.

Friday We had a play date/dinner at our house. AOI is learning and doing very  well when it comes to sharing her toys with C. My daughter's friend is so sweet, she’s good at sharing and taking turns with the toys. She went to bed late and woke up at 7:30am, 9hours – not long enough but better than mine 4/5 hours per night.

WEEKEND
Saturday, after breakfast we  went to the lake, not any ordinary lake but my happy place lake: Waskesiu. I don't know what my father in law saw few minutes after we arrived but he said "I'm impressed about this place. I'm definitely coming here again." We enjoyed some time helping AOI go on the swing and slide. She was in good spirit throughout the weekend. After dinner we went for a nature drive and we were greeted by a herd of elks, later on we saw a black bear. Sunday we checked out our cabin and whilst getting ready to leave the place a fox came to pay us respect, it stood few steps away from our car. After some pictures and he left we went hiking at Mud Creek after breakfast. Then spent some time on the beach.

TOI: enjoying earth, wind, water and fire-ing sun at the lake

AOI: she really love being surrounded by nature. She didn’t complain during an hour long hike in the forest whilst we were at the lake this weekend

AOI and TOI: “Mummy, I’ll bring him to you.” she lifted her brother while he was in his swing and wasn’t happy about it. “Thank you but I’ll take him myself.” I told her. Once he was out she said she wanted to told him, I snapped this picture quickly to show her one day. Gosh, I’m always overwhelmed of love for these two. I tell them daily

Garden Centre in Photo

AOI and mummy

Last month, on May 3rd, I went on a date with my little girl at the garden centre. It was the first time since I became a mother of two that I drove just the two of us without my little boy. Honestly, sometimes I miss our alone time, I miss the afternoon we spent on my bed reading together before nap, while little boy twirled in the womb. Or dedicating all my time to her and doing simple craft. And I’m sure she miss those moments too, so I was over joy when my friend asked me if I would like to join her and her daughter for a morning trip to the centre.

Of course it was an occasion for us mothers to capture an event, our daughters’ first time exploring a garden centre.

Our Everyday Life: Rainbow

rainbow 1 copy21-05: and rainbow appeared on the horizon after a lovely warm day when on the streets oasis played tricks on our minds
Monday of week 22 we woke up to an unhappy toddler. I was worried the day was going to be made if screams from her part but it was not like that. She was jovial. TOI was a happy boy too, but as always when the toddler naps he's awake and when he naps the toddler wakes. In the evening the children paternal grandparents arrived their six weeks visit. As usual when I have visitors I work more in the house, this time I have to tidy up more because there are too many tea cups, crumps of bread and dirty buttered knives. Also, with them here I’m eating too many salted snacks. I need discipline for my wellbeing.
This week we had our last playgroup date – the local one. We showed grandmum our everyday activities. Friday I went to the gym and I left the children with grandparents. AOI cried a little but stopped and prepared cupcakes with grandmother. I ate too many of those cupcakes. I need discipline to not put on extra weight while my in-laws are here.
WEEKEND:
Saturday we went to lunch outside in a popular barn but their food is not great. They are excellent in preparing dessert. Sunday we went to church and there was a potluck so we stayed for lunch. After that we went to do our weekly food shopping at Costco, we’ve signed up. It was the first time for my father in law and he came out shocked because he realised for the first time our easy one person can lose another person in shop.
One night I went to bed at 10:40 hoping to catch up some sleep, but as always that plan didn’t succeed. I bolted my eyes open early the following day to find sweet AOI standing by my bed racoon in her arms. I don't know how she woke me up but I was awake. She complained about her wet clothes couple times. I went to change her but when it was time to put new clothes on started to whine. I was too tired to deal with it so I went back to bed. She followed me and after awhile she agreed to dress up. Then she wanted to go downstairs but I was very tired because I woke up at 4:25 to change TOI and it was 6:00 by the time my little girl was dressed and requested to go downstairs. I wasn't ready to go so her daddy took her down. I was so upset but when I turned to this face…
morning
and my heart beams. I’m then reminded that my toddler had this blissful stage and my baby will reach the hard stage of toddlerhood too. It’s a reminder that the hard time will be always there but the easy and joyful moments are the ones to hold on tightly to. And I have to cherish the daily simple things that bring smiles.
